“Creating opportunities for youths with disabilities to achieve successful futures through employment appropriate initiatives by provision of apprenticeship skills, tools, knowledge, advocacy forum, expertise and other appropriate action to stimulate their transition to employment and contribute to their development and acceptance in their communities.’’
Who We Are
Disabled Youth Employability Action Programme Limited (DYEAP) is a Charity organisation established by a group of men and women in academia and legal practice in recognition of the plight of disabled youths in transiting to employment after school.
DYEAP is based in Kampala, Uganda and is supported by international partners from the UK and other stakeholders. DYEAP is registered in Uganda as a charity company limited by guarantee number 220934. DYEAP aims to take a partnership approach to improve current and future employment challenges and education outcomes facing young people with disability in school and in their transition from school to employment.
Objectives
DYEAP is to focus on the following main objectives to attain its goals:
- To promote the emotional intelligence towards job acquisition and creation by the disabled youth.
- Improve the study completion rates of students with disabilities.
- To identify and provide appropriate training to the disabled youth.
- Design and implement a one-stop information centre on transition opportunities.
- Placement of trained disabled youth to various organisation

It is my privilege to be asked to be the Chair of DYEAP by my fellow board members. DYEAP is a newly established social enterprise that seeks to make a material and decisive difference to the situation that faces young people with disability in Uganda. Although I am resident in the UK I will do what I can to help this committed team achieve their vision and their goals.

Fred Kakaire
Co-Chair
Has responsibility to monitor and ensure programmes implementation and accountability of the local operations as a Country Director. Fred holds a Master’s Degree in Accounting and Business Statistics. He has a vast experience in research, business models and vocational curriculum development. He is actively involved in many diversity advocacy initiatives in support of vulnerable persons’. Fred Work’s experience in Uganda include mentoring, teaching and research at undergraduate level. His teaching and research interests focus on diversity in workplaces, impact of service – learning on student learning outcomes and student motivation.
